About

Learn the basic principles of fundraising from individuals, with particular emphasis on understanding the stages of the Donor Development Cycle. Judy Levine and Greg Cohen of Cause Effective answer questions on how to find and approach prospects, how to recognize their gifts, and the board's role in fundraising. This is a recording of a live event.

Over the past 25 years, Cause Effective, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, has assisted more than 3,000 nonprofits in securing the human and financial resources necessary to accomplish their critical missions. Cause Effective achieves this through one-on-one consulting, workshops, and publications that strengthen nonprofits' ability to create and expand innovative resource development strategies.

Judy Levine, Cause Effective's executive director since 2006, has almost two decades of experience as a nonprofit management advisor. She has trained, consulted, and authored materials for more than 1,000 organizations. Her expertise is in cultivating support from individual donors, fundraising planning, and board/organizational development. Ms. Levine holds a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from New York University.

Gregory Cohen has extensive experience in nonprofit consultation as well as program development in the areas of education, health care, and housing. Before joining Cause Effective, Greg was managing a collaboration of global health organizations, an advisor to a trade association of nonprofit financial managers, and the founder of Comprehensive Development, Inc. For the past five years he has been a guest instructor on "Fundraising for New Nonprofit Ventures" at New York University's Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
