About Mirenda Meghelli (she/her)

Mirenda Meghelli joined the Women’s Funding Network in January 2022 and was the Director of Policy and Programs. As a vital member of the WFN leadership team, Mirenda manages the day-to-day programs and projects, overall program systems, and policy work that helps our members advance the sector for gender and racial equity. 

Mirenda has over fifteen years of nonprofit experience, recently serving as a Program Officer at the DC Bar Foundation. Before that, Mirenda was Partnerships Manager at Pro Bono Net, a national nonprofit that uses innovative technology to increase access to justice and facilitate collaboration between community justice stakeholders. Mirenda has also held positions at Legal Information for Families Today (LIFT), where she managed the organization’s bilingual telephone and email family law information hotlines, and the Bronx Defenders, a holistic public defender nonprofit, where she was a staff attorney. 

Mirenda received a B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania and earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. 

About Veronica Colón Rosario (she/her)

Originally from San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Veronica has over a decade of experience in program management for the public, private, and non-profit sectors. She began her career at the National Institutes of Health before pursuing her master's in Latin American Studies from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University.  

After Georgetown, Veronica joined the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars’ Latin American Program. In this role, she oversaw different regional projects and managed fundraising strategies. She later joined the National Science Foundation as a Social Scientist for the Directorate of Social and Economic Sciences.  

When Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, Veronica decided that after 11 years living in DC, it was time to return home and be at the forefront of the recovery process.  

In 2018 she joined the vibrant and emerging start-up ecosystem on the island as a Program Manager at Grupo Guayacán Inc., a non-profit that has supported the entrepreneurial community in Puerto Rico for over 23 years. Two years later, she was recruited to launch and serve as the Director of Holberton School Puerto Rico, a software development program born in San Francisco. In this role, she helped strengthen the technology sector on the island by creating partnerships and connecting students with high-profile companies.  

Veronica currently lives between San Juan and San Lorenzo with her two dogs and a few chickens. She enjoys paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, camping, and refurbishing old furniture. 

About Christy Slater (she/her)

Christy Wallace Slater is the Vice President of Programs at Women’s Foundation of the South, the first public foundation of its kind, guided by and working for womxn* and girls of color in the Southern United States. Before joining the Women’s Foundation of the South team, Christy spent over a decade working with the New Orleans team with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. In this role, she helped develop programming priorities; reviewed and recommended proposals for funding; managed and monitored a portfolio of active grants; and designed and implemented national grant initiatives, place-based work, and multi-year projects that affected systematic change and program strategy in New Orleans. Before that, Slater served as the director of economic opportunity at the Foundation for Louisiana, where she supported the development and growth of the foundation’s program-related investment fund and managed the foundation’s grant portfolios, focusing on economic opportunity and neighborhood organizing and planning. She has also served as a program officer at ECD/Hope Community Credit Union and public investment project manager at the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development in New Orleans. Slater is a fellow of the NCRW/AMEX Building the Next Generation of Women Leaders in the Nonprofit Sector fellowship program in the 2012-2013 class; sits on the board of managers loan committee of the ISAIAH Fund; and is a board chair of the Crescent City Community Land Trust. She holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Louisiana State University.
