In 2015, the Supreme Court made a landmark decision to legalize same-sex marriage in all 50 states. This decision indicated that the country was moving towards more progressive and inclusive outcomes. Indeed, trends show that societal norms are shifting towards equality, but there remains a long journey for LGBTQ people and communities. Persistent hurdles exist around housing, workplace discrimination and trans justice. Meanwhile, violence and poverty still disproportionately affect LGBTQ youth.
