About Ana Marie Argilagos

Ana Marie Argilagos is president and CEO of Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP). She is guiding HIP with a bold vision: to usher in a new generation of philanthropy that is for, by, and about the Latino community. Previously Ana Marie was a senior advisor at the Ford Foundation as part of the Equitable Development team. Before becoming a senior adviser at the foundation in 2014, she served as deputy chief of staff and deputy assistant secretary at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where she created the Office for International and Philanthropic Innovation (IPI) to deepen and scale collaboration between public and philanthropic sectors. Previous to rejoining HUD she spent eight years as a senior program officer at the Annie E. Casey Foundation, where she spearheaded the foundation’s work in rural areas, indigenous communities, and the US-Mexico border region. She has a successful track record working within both the public and the nonprofit sectors in a range of capacities—from educational programs manager at the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, to the director of the New Workplace for Women Project at the National Council of La Raza, to the deputy director of Ayuda, a community-based legal clinic serving immigrants in Washington, DC—and has proved herself to be an entrepreneurial thinker bridging diverse agendas and achieving results.

About Jose Calderon

Mr. Calderón is President of the Hispanic Federation (HF), the nation’s premier Latino nonprofit membership organization. Mr. Calderón manages the organization’s overall operations with a primary focus on public policy advocacy, strategic planning, program development, and resource expansion. He is a leading national advocate for social and racial justice, high-quality public schools, accessible health care, immigrant integration, increased voter engagement, and laws protecting our environment. During his tenure, he has helped the Federation dramatically expand its nationwide reach to twenty states and Puerto Rico, tripling its organizational budget and staff in the process.

Since 2001, Mr. Calderón has developed and launched several of the Federation’s most important initiatives. These include HF’s Latino College Student Success Program, Board Leadership Development Initiative, DREAMers Scholarship Fund, Health Marketplace Enrollment, Latino Immigration Task Force, and historic Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund. He has spearheaded HF’s civic engagement efforts, helping to register and mobilize hundreds of thousands of voters. Following Hurricane Maria in 2017, Mr. Calderón led the largest private humanitarian effort in Puerto Rico, assisting more than 750,000 with food, water, emergency provisions and long-term recovery projects.

Mr. Calderón leads and serves on numerous high profile committees. He is currently Co-Chair of the Immigration Committee and Environmental Committee of the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda. He also is a Co-Chair on the New York City DOE Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. In addition, Mr. Calderón serves on the advisory committee for New York City Mayor DeBlasio’s Transition Team.

Mr. Calderón graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Hunter College in 1997. He received his Master of Arts from St. John University with a concentration in Latin American studies and Spanish literature in 2001. Mr. Calderón is married and is a proud father of two wonderful daughters.
