About

Our community has many compassionate, motivated people who think about how they can address society's problems. One of the options is to start a tax exempt nonprofit organization. If you're considering founding your own nonprofit, this is the class for you. We'll cover what a nonprofit is, what alternatives there are for creating social good, and the steps to take before you finalize your decision.

This is the first in a four part series exploring what it takes to start a nonprofit and be ready to raise funds to keep the organization sustainable.

About the presenter:

Angela C. Beard has been a nonprofit practitioner, board member and scholar for more than 30 years. Presently she directs the Fundraising Academy at City University of Seattle, whose mission is to offer high-quality fundraising educational opportunities to further strengthen nonprofit organizations throughout Washington State. Dr. Beard serves on the board of Puget Sound Grantwriters Association and regularly presents on fundraising and nonprofits. In 2011 she received her doctorate from New York University, specializing in nonprofit management, financial management, applied statistics and survey/sampling techniques.
