About Kate Terrell

Kate Terrell joined the Cleveland Foundation in June 2019 and currently serves as a Program Officer focusing on projects related to health and human services. Prior to joining the Foundation, Kate spent nearly a decade working with and for out-of-school time programs across Cleveland where she focused on leveraging education, outreach, and direct service provision in order to promote well-being for youth and families. Most recently, she coordinated fund development and evaluation design for the Cleveland Peacemakers Alliance, an organization that provides outreach and case management services to at-risk and gang-involved youth. Kate began her career in the classroom where she taught literature, journalism, and creative writing to high school students.

Kate holds a Master of Science in Urban Studies with a concentration in Public Policy from Cleveland State University and a Bachelor of Science in Integrated English Language Arts with a concentration in Cultural Studies and Public Life from Miami University. She is an involved and active community member and currently serves on the board of Twelve Literary Arts and the Junior League of Cleveland.

About Karen Thompson-Shaheen

Karen Thompson-Shaheen serves as the Foundation Management Services liaison to The Woodruff Foundation.  She came to Foundation Management Services from NewBridge Cleveland Center for Arts & Technology, where she served as its Chief Programming and Operations Officer since May 2010. In this role, she oversaw the design and implementation of NewBridge’s after-school arts programming for high school students and vocational job training for adults. Prior to her work at NewBridge, Karen gained significant experience in resource development, strategic planning, curriculum development, program design, project management and program evaluation through work with multiple Cleveland non-profits and government agencies, including the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, the Workforce Investment Board, and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Karen also brings 15 years of experience in resource development focused on foundation and corporate philanthropy. Karen holds an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from John Carroll University and a Master’s Degree in Art History in Museum Studies from Case Western Reserve University.

About Timothy L. Tramble, Sr.

Tim became the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Saint Luke’s Foundation on June 1, 2020. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing and guiding the work of the foundation to advance the pursuit of health equity in the Saint Luke’s neighborhoods and throughout Cuyahoga County. Tim leads, directs, and coordinates the activities of the foundation in accordance with the policies, goals, and objectives established by the Board of Trustees and articulated through the foundation’s strategic plan, which can be found on the Strategies & Goals tab of this website.

Before joining the foundation, Tim served as a highly regarded leader in the field of community development. While forging the growth of Burten, Bell, Carr Development, Inc. (BBC), Tim oversaw multimillion-dollar real estate development projects in Cleveland’s poorest neighborhoods, founded WOVU 95.9FM Community Radio Station, and led the creation of BoxSpot micro-enterprise development in addition to many other innovative community revitalization programs and projects.

Before joining BBC, Tim spent five years in various roles at the Cleveland Department of Public Health. Tim started his career as an environmental planner for CT Consultants where he facilitated comprehensive assessments of water management systems.

Tim earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Cleveland State University where he also earned his graduate certificate in Non-profit Management. His Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science was obtained from Central State University and he is certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional by the National Development Council. Tim is a proud graduate of East High, a closed school of the Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD).

Tim was born and raised in the Hough neighborhood of Cleveland and resides in the Fairfax neighborhood of Cleveland with his wife Latrice and daughter Tierra.

About David Holmes (he/him)

Dave Holmes is an Educational Programming Manager at Candid, coordinating national trainings and the training and educational programming for the Midwest region. He returned to the Foundation Center (now Candid) in 2015 from a position as Senior Consultant at Grants Plus, writing grants and doing research for a variety of large and small nonprofit clients. In his initial nine-year tenure with Foundation Center, Dave served in various roles including Regional Training Specialist, Interim Director of Foundation Center – Cleveland, and Director of Capacity and Leadership Development.

Earlier in his career, Dave served as a Program Officer for the Stocker Foundation in Lorain, Ohio, and as the Director of Grants and Prospect Research at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio. He has served on numerous local boards, including the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Cleveland Chapter;  Joel's Place for Children; and Upcycle Parts Shop. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh, an MA from Villanova University, and an MLIS from Kent State University.

About Samantha Ryder

Samantha Ryder is the Senior Manager of Network Engagement and leads the operational strategy for the Network Engagement team and oversee the development of account management processes, including onboarding, engagement, and retention for Network Engagement program partners. Design centralized standards, training, and common tools that can be leveraged by the Network Engagement team with the goal of improving efficiencies and supporting ambitious growth targets while ensuring quality program delivery throughout domestic and global regions.

She joined Candid in 2018 after operating a consulting group that worked with a variety of clients including universities, private and nonprofit organizations, and the City of Cleveland. Before consulting, she served as Chief of Staff for Cleveland City Council and as a Family Liaison for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Akron, and a Masters of Arts from John Carroll University.
