About
The annual Columbus Survey of community foundations is referred to by many as the “census of the community foundation field,” started by the Columbus Foundation in 1988 and administered by CF Insights since 2008. The Columbus Survey collects self-reported data from across the field to uncover financial trends and operational activity among community foundations in the United States.
The latest Columbus Survey findings show that, after a FY 2018 during which community foundation asset sizes remained virtually flat from the year before, the median community foundation, fueled by a strong year for investment returns, experienced an over 15 percent increase in assets in FY 2019. Donor-advised funds (DAFs), a highly popular giving vehicle, continued to grow across the field—new questions added to the latest survey show that nearly two-thirds of respondents have a policy in place to ensure the continued grantmaking activity of DAFs under their management.
Join David Rosado, Director of CF Insights (a service of Candid), as he discusses some of the top-level findings from the latest Columbus Survey reflecting FY 2019 and provides a demonstration of how your community foundation can leverage comparative data from peers to provide useful insights.
