In the past several years, our communities have experienced an unprecedented uptick in disasters, from catastrophic natural events such as hurricanes, floods, and fires to man-made crises such as mass shootings and the detention of immigrant communities on the southern U.S. border. Today we are confronting a global public health crisis that poses a grave and acute threat to our communities, along with the long-term economic implications of a recession. While in many ways’ events like COVID-19 are considered “great equalizers,” this crisis is disproportionately impacting the populations that are already facing discrimination, lack of access to services, and economic hardship. These are the populations that nonprofits serve every day and will need to serve at a higher scale in the months and years to come, despite complex and evolving operating challenges.

In this session, Candid, Common Impact, and Good 360 will discuss how the philanthropic and corporate sectors, respectively, can leverage their full suite of assets – funding, in-kind donation, and skilled employees – to support the nonprofit sector’s disaster preparedness and long-term recovery support.

• Good360, a global leader in product philanthropy and in-kind giving, will share how they have adapted their operations to respond to the current COVID-19 crisis and how organizations can prepare for enduring any natural disasters that may come during this time.
