About Heidi Kim

Heidi Kim is the Assistant Director of Pro Bono Programs at New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, a nonprofit, civil rights public interest law firm that for over 40 years has worked in a number of different legal areas and matches nonprofits with pro bono attorneys at New York’s top law firms. Heidi works with nonprofit organizations that serve underserved communities and connects them with pro bono counsel to serve their various legal needs. She also works with the Pro Bono Advisory Council, a body of 40 young attorneys that serve as ambassadors for NYLPI’s mission, and coordinates several annual events geared toward junior attorneys. Prior to joining NYLPI, she served as a trial preparation assistant at the New York County District Attorney’s Office. She holds a B.A. from Cornell University.

About Gary Johnson

Gary is an experienced program director, strategist, and operations manager with a passion for discovering unique ways for technology to improve public life. He has over 10-years of experience building partnerships between public and private sectors and motivating teams to be innovative in solving complex challenges.

As the Director of Strategy & Operations in the City of New York Mayor's Office of the Chief Technology Officer, Gary has helped lead the City’s NYCx research and development program for breakthrough and emerging technology. The program’s goal is to showcase insights into the needs of New Yorkers and provide NYC-as-a-lab assets.

Gary is committed to creating initiatives that improve inclusion and equity in tech and entrepreneurship. He is a champion of underrepresented entrepreneurs and is an accomplished ecosystem builder for tech diversity. His approach is creative, intersectional, and holistic, combining the expertise he’s gained in economic development, public policy, and urban tech innovation.

About Jennifer M. Rutledge

Jennifer M. Rutledge is the Principal of Delphi Consultants, Inc. located in White Plains, New York. Jennifer has over 34 years of practical, broad-based experience in providing consulting services, training, and technical assistance in governance, board and, other leadership development, management development, long-range and strategic planning, and organizational development areas in the for-profit, not-for-profit, and public sectors.
She has assisted client companies, associations, and organizations in developing strategic initiatives designed to address emerging issues and she has served as a facilitator and guide providing technical assistance to these organizations throughout the resulting processes. One such area is that of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Jennifer has designed and introduced diversity, equity, and inclusion-related processes, initiatives, and programs, most of which have been introduced throughout entire organizations or companies.

Jennifer serves as a technical advisor to various collaboratives, alliances, associations, and local community development corporations engaged in community planning and revitalization. She has also developed community-wide initiatives and engaged community leaders in building and strengthening their organizations, and ultimately, their communities. She is currently working with regional, local and national organizations on a number of projects and initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and serves as a consultant for the Center for Nonprofit Leadership at Adelphi University, coordinating its Leading in Community Certificate Program for emerging leaders of color, which she helped to develop with Dr. A. B. Leander.

Jennifer was a Charter Senior Associate of the National Center for Nonprofit Boards (now known as BoardSource) and traveled both domestically and internationally working with organization and association leadership, including those who serve on boards and those who service boards (i.e., consultants, trainers, etc.). She is also a contributing writer for several publications and the author of Building Board Diversity.

Jennifer has a Masters Degree in Business Administration and an undergraduate degree in Industrial Psychology. She has served on several Boards of Directors and is a member of the International Association of Facilitators.

About Robyn Walker Murphy

Robyne Walker Murphy is a nationally-recognized art and social justice educator and administrator. Prior to joining Groundswell's team in November 2016, Robyne most recently served as Citywide Program Director for Cultural Access at Cool Culture in New York City. Previous to her position at Cool Culture, Robyne served as director of membership development and engagement at the National Guild for Community Arts Education, working closely with a national network of community arts organizations. Robyne created the Guild's first network for leaders of color in the arts, ALAANA (African, Latin, Asian, Arabic, Native American) to raise the profile of work being led by people of color (POC) in the arts, increase POC access to sustained resources, and invest in the growth and leadership of people of color in the field of community arts education.

Prior to the Guild, she served as the Director of the DreamYard Art Center for seven years. During that time she helped lead the organization through the development of arts and social justice programming and community engagement initiatives at the DreamYard Art Center, located in the Morrisania section of the Bronx. Robyne oversaw the expansion of program offerings from three programs serving high school students to 16 programs multi-disciplinary art and college readiness programs for young people in grades PreK-12. Under her direction, DreamYard Art Center was recognized by the White House as one of the top 12 out of school programs in the nation. Robyne accepted the award from First Lady Michelle Obama at a White House ceremony. She created and co-developed the Social Justice Pedagogy Team, a professional development series aimed at establishing important tenets of social justice education; creating a common language across programs; exploring best practices and learning from veteran social justice educators. Robyne has conducted workshops about art and social justice at conferences and institutions across the country. Her writing on social justice education has been featured in Teachers and Writers and Teaching Artist Guild magazines.

Robyne is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University where she majored in English with an emphasis in African American Literature. She obtained her MFA in Acting from the University of Washington’s Professional Actor Training Program. She resides in Brooklyn, New York with her husband, Tarik Murphy and her son, Ras.
