As the subject of diversity, equity, and inclusion has gained momentum amongst nonprofits and funders in recent years, to what extent is the sector actually walking its talk? And for those who have made significant changes in the ways in which they build their teams or serve communities, what results are seen from these efforts? According to the Pew Research Center, by 2055 the United States will not have a single racial or ethnic majority, and it is imperative for the social sector to proactively engage with that future, which requires change both in the ways in which leaders are developed, and the ways in which funding decisions are made.
Join us for a conversation covering DEI from an internal perspective - hiring practices and opportunities for professional development and advancement - and an external perspective, racial and social justice grantmaking to reshape the societal structures that cause and perpetuate inequity.
How much progress has been made so far in these arenas, and how much progress has not yet been made? In this discussion, we will explore the strides that have been made, the areas in which a lot of work still remains to be accomplished, and the potential opportunities open for the sector going forward.
