Comments from Lita Ugarte Pardi, Program Officer, The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, from The Grantseeker's Guide to Winning Proposals:
Georgia Appleseed answered all the questions on our application form. Our application form provides limited space for answers (we lock the form) in order to force applicants to be concise. However, the organization provided enough details to attract the reviewers to want to learn more about their proposed project. Georgia Appleseed's answer to question 1.8 was especially good in that it briefly conveyed who would be involved in the project and what the goals were. This was a complex project, and they kept their explanation simple so that the review team would easily be able to understand it. While the statement of need was good, I feel it could have been stronger if it had statistics. Georgia Appleseed stated that outcomes for Georgia's children are on average worse than children in other states, but did not have statistics or facts to back up that statement.
