In 2018, Candid launched its first annual Train the Trainer workshop; two days of learning designed for staff and our Funding Information Network (FIN) training partners, aimed at building their training and facilitation skills. This year, we’re at it again! Over the last nine months, we’ve been busy at work designing a great learning experience that will enable us to serve you, our nonprofit community, even better!
You see, in 2018, we also created a new level of partnership associated with Candid’s FIN program, which consists of organizations that are now certified by Candid to deliver skill-building workshops to nonprofits on behalf of Candid. The FIN Training program enables partners to:
- Become Foundation Directory Online (FDO) Trainer and Candid Training certified
- Host six nonprofit trainings per year (curriculum included in program benefits)
- Participate in Candid professional development
FINs exist all over the country, and in other parts of the world. These partners enable Candid to disseminate the knowledge tools we provide to increase the skills and support the work of local nonprofit sectors all across the country and the globe. Traditionally, FINs have provided access to our databases, allowing anyone in their community to access these databases for prospect research. Now, in addition to providing access to databases, a select number of FIN partners have also signed up to offer Candid trainings. This means that now, you will have greater access to in-person skill-building workshops from certified Candid trainers in a community near you!
Our second annual Train the Trainer workshop will run from Tuesday, October 8 through Thursday, October 10 in New York City. We expect more than 30 participants coming from across the U.S. and Mexico for what promises to be two great days of learning and partnership. Featured presenters will include Cardozie Jones from True North DEI, the Luma Institute, and the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy. We’re excited to be spending time with our trainers, and look forward to the learning opportunities that this will create for you in your community!
